Become a Client
Because the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Clinic at Yale Law School has limited capacity, we will only be able to represent a limited number of clients at any given time. We will often give preference to ventures that have a positive impact on society or that push the boundaries of innovation. As a result, the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Clinic may choose not to accept you as a client.
Please download and complete the application to become a client of the Clinic. We review applications and accept new clients on an on-going basis. We will contact you shortly after we receive your application and may ask you additional questions and require additional information before determining whether to accept you as a client.
Please note that your legal needs must fall within the scope of the legal services that the Clinic provides. For example, the Clinic does not provide advice on contentious matters, such as mediation, arbitration or litigation, and does not prepare or file patent applications.
In addition, the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Clinic will not typically represent a client on a matter that is adverse to Yale University or any of its schools, institutes or centers.
The Clinic provides its legal services free of charge to its clients. Clinic clients do not pay for the legal services provided by the Clinic. Please note, however, that if you are accepted as client, you may be responsible for certain expenses, such as governmental filing fees.
If your legal needs cannot wait until we make a decision whether to accept you as a client, please seek legal advice and services from a law firm or other provider of legal services.
If you are accepted as a client by the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Clinic, both the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Clinic and you must first enter into a formal written engagement letter agreement before there will exist an attorney-client relationship between the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Clinic and you and before the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Clinic will provide any legal advice to you.
Please note that if you are accepted as a client of the Clinic, you do not, thereby, become a client of any of the law firms that the Clinic may work with.
